The Rogers Scholars Program is an intensive one week summer session for rising high school juniors from 42 counties in Southern and Eastern Kentucky that emphasizes technological skills development and fosters an entrepreneurial spirit, leadership and commitment to rural Kentucky. Rogers Scholars will interact with state and national leaders and work with high-quality instructors.

All Rogers Scholars activities (meals, lodging, etc...) will be supervised and paid by the Rogers Scholars program.

Graduates select three Rogers Scholars to serve as Ambassadors

Rogers Scholars Jordan Meece, Stacie Lawless and Joanie Alexander have been selected by their team members in the second graduating class to represent the youth leadership program as Ambassadors.

The three Scholars were chosen by their peers to serve as Rogers Scholars Ambassadors, a program started three years ago for graduating Scholars. Each graduating class selects representatives to carry out the role as Ambassadors. Ambassadors provide input to the Rogers Scholars program, mentor other Scholars, plan an annual reunion and participate in community service projects sponsored by The Center for Rural Development.

Reunion

Several graduates of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program made a blast back to the past and re-visited “The 80’s” while attending the group’s annual reunion event. One of the highlights for the returning Scholars was the 80’s Singing Competition, returning Scholars had the chance to compete for great prizes by showing their talent on the microphone and belting out tunes from the 80’s. Another favorite event was the 80’s Fashion Show, where everyone paraded across the stage to show off their fabulous attire!
